Types
of Strokes
There
are three types of stoke:
1.
Cerebral Hemorrhage "Hemorrhagic Stroke" -
bleeding within the brain.
When
an aneurysm (a sac-like protrusion form a blood vessel)
in the brain bursts, a hemorrhagic stroke results.
This is the type of stoke that has been most strongly
linked to PPA and therefore to all ephedrines.
2.
Cerebral Embolism - embolus - a wandering blood clot
A
blood clot from one part of the brain that carried
by the bloodstream to the brain where it blocks an
artery. The type of stroke can be linked to PPA and
ephedrines.
3.
Cerebral Thrombosis - formation of a blood clot in an
artery
This
type of stroke probably cannot be linked to PPA or
ephedrines.
In
addition
Transient
Ischemic Attack(TIA) -a stroke-like event
A
TIA is not a hemorrhagic stroke. It lasts for a short
period of time and is caused by a blocked blood vessel.
A TIA can be caused by PPA or ephedrines.
